Despite both parents being active with volleyball, Ben didn't start playing until the age of 18 when he joined team Winchester at university.

After becoming captain and enlisting the Uni team into the regional league, he met players from team Southampton and was recruited into their National league squad as a middle blocker.

Ben moved up the ranks to captain team Southampton for his final year in the club before moving back to his hometown in Bristol.

Out of the two NVL clubs in Bristol at the time, he decided to join City of Bristol VC after recognising one of the coaches as an ex teammate of his father.

Ben later became involved in the beach volleyball community, helping to coach for Beach Volleyball Inc under the guidance of Denise Austin.

Ben currently coaches the NVL ladies team and still plays for the men's team.
